Label Lust: Chanel Espadrilles

Slide1

I’ve so much time for espadrilles this summer – they look great and can be worn with almost everything and anything. They are made from canvas material and have a soft fabric sole, making them ridiculously comfy. It really is not all that hard to see why they’ve developed such a cult following for spring/summer 2013.

Chanel is most likely to blame for this summer trend.  The Chanel espadrilles have been a huge success with celebrities, fashion icons and have been seen popping up all over the blogs. I’m seriously lusting over these lately (how could you not though?). They’re not available online and cost €320 – which is a lot for a pair of canvas shoes that probably wouldn’t last you till September (the only thing that cares about that is my bank balance, sigh).

Designers and High Street labels are all trying to put their own their own twist on this current trend and there really are tones to choose from.

Happy Shopping 🙂

Beauty Review: Lucas’ Papaw Ointment

One of my emigrated friends surprised me recently by sending me over some Australian treats (I know, Amaaaazing). One of these treats was a tube of Lucas’ Papaw Ointment. Firstly papaw is papaya. Sooo, now that’s cleared, this ‘ointment’ is a blend of fresh fermented papaya in a petroleum jelly base. It’s unbelievably multifunctional and has become one of my hero products.

Papaya is known for its many health and healing benefits and the papaw used in this product is home-grown in Queensland – each piece of fruit is hand selected and fermented to just the right level to make the ointment. Papaya also has great antibacterial and antimicrobial properties making it a perfect local topical treatments for dry skin, sunburn, insect bites, open cuts, to name but a few!!

My lips are a divil for flaking – It drives me insane and looks terrible, especially when you’re wearing lipstick . Cracked lips are pretty ugly and they can hurt like hell (especially if you pick at the skin, GUILTY). Lucas’ Papaw is super hydrating and has completely prevented my lips from chapping. The bridge of my nose and my cuticles go through dry spells too – I find if apply some of the ointment before bed the dry skin is totally hydrated by the time I get up the next day #WINNING

Needless to say it’s developed a celeb  following including; Kate Moss, Holly Willoughby, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Rosie Byrne!!

Crave Or Save?

Everyone’s talking kimonos this summer. They’ve been seen all over the runways in s/s collections and have become a massive street style trend. Kimonos definitely are a fresh alternative to cardigans or light jackets – especially as the weather starts to pick up (touching wood). This is a really easy trend to wear, with so many different verities available, there really is a style to suit everyone. I actually really like this trend and I will certainly be investing in an item or two over the next few months.

I really love the kimonos from the Emilio Pucci s/s 13′ collection created by Peter Dundas  – they showed a commitment to craftsmanship, with rich detailed embroidery that touched on the true opulence on Indochina. Something I’d be looking for if I was forking out the big bucks for a piece of the collection.

This Pucci  army green embroidered cotton-canvas kimono really caught my eye. I really like how the military-inspired colours and patches give it a bit of an edge, especially over the more elegant types that you’d generally associate a kimono with. This jacket kinda reminds me of a tiquando uniform (but in a good way),  but with a price of €6,420, it will be added to the wish list.

Slide1 I really like this short sleeve TOPSHOP kimono for €98. This kimono has detailed flowers that are embroidered with really vibrant colours, I love the contrasting fringing, even though I’m not a huge fan of wearing fringed items

This would actually be perfect festival attire. I think it would look preeetty cool paired with a fitted tee and denim shorts!

All we need now is some sun.
